Geforce RTX 3060ti in ARK Survival Evolved | At 1080p, and 1440p

Geforce RTX 3060ti in ARK Survival Evolved | At 1080p, and 1440p

Intro

Hello guys Hassan here and welcome back to another article, and in this one my friends I am going to be testing the Geforce RTX 3060ti in ARK Survival Evolved. This one is the founders' edition model of the card, and I am running it using the latest Nvidia drivers at the time of writing this article which is 472.12 and I am not overclocking it. I am also running it using a Ryzen 9 5900X and 32 gigabytes of RAM to avoid any CPU RAM bottlenecks.

1080p Epic

Let's get right into it, shall we? First of all, let's go through the settings real quick, and I am playing at 1080p resolution. I am also going to test this one at 1440p resolution, I think but I just want to push the 3060tI to its absolute limits, and for this purpose, I will also test it at 4K and 8K later. So, I am going to do that I am also running it using the Epic settings, and I am going to do a couple of changes here, it asks for a GTX Titan at epic which is more or less the same as a GTX 980ti.

So, the 3060tI should be capable of running this game at 1080p Epic. I am going to push the resolution scale up to the maximum because it wasn't set to 100 at the present and I am going to disable light bloom because I just hate that in this game, and it's super annoying motion blur, we also don't want that. Let's disable it, I am just going to do randoms and until we find a very good looking one, like this is very pretty and we got a huge base in front of us. That is super intensive on our CPU as you can see, I am glad to see that this game is broken still it runs awesome on the RTX 3060ti.

So, there is a problem with RX Survival Evolved if you join a server with massive bases like this one you're going to get very low FPS. I am getting around 50 frames per second with a 5900X and it's bottlenecking our 3060ti, of course, CPU utilization is also extremely low. It's broken CPU optimization wise at least when you join a server with huge bases like this one yeah it's not going to run well, and I think I am going to join another one, to be honest, oh yeah look at those muscles right there holy crap that is a thick boy as well. I am going to go with this one all right it's raining are people shooting around here like can you even have guns in ARK Survival Evolved, and I am a total noob in this game by the way.

I know how to play Royce, but not this, it's not shooting, it's hitting the guy I guess. All right, guys so, here I am getting 70s with the 3060ti at 1080p resolution. The game is installed on an NVME SSD, so, there are no problems with storage speed wise. Right now, it's not stuttering anymore maybe it was just stuttering because it was still loading things, but it's smooth now. I expected more FPS than these granted, and I am in a forest area right now, those are extremely intensive in this game, but I just expected more coming from the 3060ti. It's getting 60s I guess, the GTX 980ti or Titan X are good for epic settings at 1080p but at 30 FPS or so.

I was crafting things I was learning how to do things in the game I can't even do that this game is so unforgiving to new people, storage boxes there's nothing here okay maybe it's just a distraction you know maybe one of these will have something and the guy just placed it like a thousand storage boxes so we don't need to look through all of them, but no, it has nothing. All right, so, it is completely playable here don't get me wrong but I'd like to see more FPS.

1080p High

So, I am going to play now at the high settings, all right guys so I am now playing on high settings and I am getting a lot higher FPS like this is crazy compared to epic. It's also not set to the maximum resolution scale and it's very noticeable, and I don't like that, so, I am going to go ahead and increase that setting here. Let’s disable light bloom and motion blur once again, so, we get a 120 FPS, that is just insane it still looks pretty good. I am going to start counting our FPS.

Wow! What a massive increase in FPS just by setting it too high instead of epic. If you have the option to play on high instead of having to pick this one it's worth it. Obviously, um, it also looks almost the same like I can't tell much of a difference, and I am just grabbing random things because that is all I know about this game. I just learned it, so, yeah forest area and it's not dropping from 100 FPS, this is very smooth right now. There are like a couple of stutters here and there whenever the game needs to load something, but that is completely normal in ARK Survival Evolved

1440p High

So, now at 1440p, this is not at 1440p because the resolution scale wasn't fully applied, and I could notice that. Now I am at native 1440p, the game is looking pretty damn sharp and detailed I like it right now and it's still performing well, of course, you don't need a very high refresh rate experience in this game, and it is so anything. Above 60 frames is just fine at least to me, we got some torch there, all right that is how you get it, so, now we should be able to craft something. I just whistled there, oh, I am finding things, let's go I need flint for that.

If you want to play ARK Survival Evolved on RTX 3060ti, It is just amazing, to be honest, I've never had such a great experience in this game, it's still not great, but that is just because it is not well optimized and it stutters every time now and again. But if you overlook that if you want to enjoy this game a GPU like this is just amazing for it, like 87 FPS average so far. All right, so, the 70s don't even drop into the 60s, so this is really good performance for ARK Survival Evolved like, of course, the 3060ti is a beast of a GPU, and if you're wondering you're going to get the same FPS if you pair this card with something like an i5 10th Gen overclocked like a 10600k or 11600k or a Ryzen 5 5600X.

You don't need the Ryzen 9 5900X, you can tell that by the CPU utilization there you just need very fast scores not a lot, of course, for this game you get 60 plus all of the time the 1% lows are not at 60 because of stuttering issue. Unfortunately, those are not going anywhere. I hope you found this article informative, do not forget to share your views in the comments.

We're using the latest Nvidia drivers 472.12. This one is the MSI gaming X version of the card, it comes already overclocked out of the box, and I’m not pushing it further as I am telling you here, and as usual, I’m running it on a Ryzen 9 5900X and 32 Gigabytes of RAM to avoid any CPU or RAM bottlenecks, after all, we are testing the GPU here. So, we don't want to bottleneck it if we did bottleneck it we would be testing the CPU.
